GEORGE WHITEFIELD PROGRAM

The GWP is looking for men who want to do the work of an itinerant evangelist full-time which means preach the Gospel and minister to souls in the open air 5 - 6 days a week for at least 4 hours daily.

The mission of a GWP evangelist:

  • Reach non-Christians with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, calling them to repentance and faith in Christ that they would be justified by faith and begin to enter the sanctification process.
  • Refer new Christians to a Bible teaching church for sanctification of discipleship.

The ministry of a GWP evangelist:

  • Saturate their itinerant area with the Gospel.
  • Be consistent in the different areas in order to properly minister to their hearers as they respond.
  • Believe in and pray for the local church where they minister.
  • Pray for the Civil Magistrates and others in authority in their area (I Tim 2:1-7)
  • Conduct themselves according to Scriptural requirements of minister (2 Timothy 2:24-26) and elder (I Timothy 3:1-7).
  • See themselves as fulfilling the office and work of an evangelist (Ephesians 4:11).
  • See their primary work as preaching sermons to the hearers using the training offered through the Keep Your Finger in Text program taught be Heath Pucel.
  • Pursue the education offered via minstry partner Bryan College.

GWP Evangelists:

  • Pray for each other, their families and ministries daily to create Christian unity and fellowship amongst the co-laborers.
  • Work to invite other men to join them as they preach to aid with the ministry and to spur others on into this Great Commission work.
  • If the Lord is leading them develop a local Bible teaching class amongst those who know them or have heard them preach and want to learn from them.

GWP believes and teaches evangelists are ministers and their primary work is Acts 6:4 to be men of the Word and prayer.

GWP provides administrative support, training and fellowship so the evangelist can preach the Gospel in their itinerant area (highways and hedges like college campuses, large community events like festivals, concerts and major sporting events and areas in a town or city where lots of souls gather or pass by).

Full-time means that you are completely engaged in the work of an evangelist without any other work or non-family distractions. This is your full-time work vs. being bi-vocational or preaching part-time.

If you're interested in being a full-time evangelist then the first step is to complete and submit the application. Click here to download it: George Whitefield Program Application.

Once your application is received and approved you are considered a Member of the GWP and enter a 12 - 18 probation period where you are to raise the money for your to become full-time and also enroll in the Bryan College Christian Thought & Biblical Studies program.

The GWP requires particular fellowship, reporting and educational commitments, which are stated in the application. If these are not commitments you want to make, then consider being an evangelist with REF.  At REF you are free to preach full or part-time, plant a church and engage in any other type of evangelism you want.

The next training for the GWP is June 16-20, 2025. Details: GWP Summer Conference.

If you would like to give to underwrite the mobilization of GWP evangelists visit: GWP Giving.
