In this twelve week online training, you will gain the conviction and tools to take your preaching to the next level in preparation for your upcoming outings. We will dive into the tools to help you grasp the text you are looking to preach the way God intended it. We will look to grow and deepen your preaching to be faithful to the text and truly exalt Christ as you herald Him to those who desperately need Him.

Keep Your Finger in the Text - Spring of 2023

Join me this spring as we dive into one the most referred to books in the New Testament. Full of Messianic prophecy, rich in poetic and lyrical language; the book of Isaiah.

It’s a tale about two creations, two cities, two kings and two people. As God’s people await the first coming of the Messiah, we longingly await His second coming. How are we to live while we wait? 

We will see the ministry of the King, the ministry of the servant and the ministry of the anointed conqueror. How does this ministry impact our lives to proclaim this prophet today?

The themes and messages throughout Isaiah are as relevant today as they were when written, so come join me.

What you will learn as we work on sermon preparation for the open air?


  • Roadmap to Rhetoric - Steps in preparing our text.


  • Context is King! - How the different contexts influence our meaning.


  • What’s the point? - Determine the text organization to find the main point.


  • Where is the Gospel? – Locating the cross connections.


  • Pitfalls while preparing – Beware of roadblocks.


  • What do I do now? –


  • How do we apply what we know to our hearers?


  • How to we organize our thoughts and material to preach.


  • How do we articulate the message?


Heath will personally lead you through the workshop. You will have a chance to put these principles into practice as you will prepare text(s) ahead of time for the small groups and then present your work for peer review.
